With commission free Dollars and Sterling you can now buy Dollars and Sterling commission free from selected Post Offices. That means more money in your wallet when you take a trip to either the United Kingdom or America.

Your Post Office – open for Business. Commission free foreign exchange is available in 326 offices across the country.

Your Post Office offers savings and investment services and products on behalf of the National Treasury management Agency (State Savings). These include:

Deposit Account Plus
Interest 3% p.a. variable. 30 day notice statement based Deposit Account, subject to DIRT.

Post Office Savings Bank Deposit Account
Interest 1% p.a. variable, on Demand Deposit Account with a passbook, subject to DIRT.

Pension Save Account
Interest rate of 1% p.a., subject to DIRT. A convenient account to save your pension payments.

ChildCare Save Account
Interest rate of 1% p.a., subject to DIRT. A convenient account to save your Child Benefit payments.

National Solidarity Bond (10 Year)
50% Gross return over 10 years. AER 4.14%, made up of an annual interest payment of 1% p.a., subject to DIRT, and a final tax free lump sum bonus payment of 40%.

National Solidarity Bond (4 Year)
15% Gross return over 4 years. AER 3.56%, made up of an annual interest payment of 1% p.a., subject to DIRT, and a final tax free lump sum bonus payment of 11%.

Savings Certificates
Interest 21% after 5.5 years. AER 3.53%, tax free.

Savings Bonds
Interest 10% after 3 years,. AER 3.23%, tax free.

Instalment Savings

If cost is your main concern you should choose Standard Post offering you a cost effective worldwide delivery.

Security

If security is your main concern, you should choose Registered Post offering you the securest delivery available.

Speed

If your item is especially urgent, Courier Post is the service for you. Courier Post guarantees you with a next working day delivery before 12.00 (in major urban areas within the Republic of Ireland) and day-certain worldwide delivery.

If next-day delivery (but not time-certain) for your item is required, you should choose Express Post. Express Post offers you a guaranteed next working day delivery within the Republic of Ireland with optional signature & insurance are available for a small fee.

Our Express Post International service offers you a fast and reliable delivery service for letters or packets to 15 international destinations.

If you require a reliable international parcel delivery service (but not day-certain), then Priority Parcel International is the service for you. Priority Parcel International offers reliable delivery times to 15 international destinations with proof of delivery and inclusive transit liability.

The Post Office is a major partner of the Department of Social Protection. You can collect your Social Welfare payment at any of our Post Offices nationwide. When you collect your welfare payment at your post office you do not incur any charges.

How does it work?

If you wish to have your Social Welfare payments paid to you through the Post Office you must apply directly to the Department of Social Protection. You can designate any one of our network of Post Offices as your office of payment. Even if you currently receive your welfare payments in another way (e.g. bank account) you can apply to have your payments paid (without charges) at your local Post Office. Just drop in today and ask for more details.

Which payments can be paid through the Post Office?

Send money home or abroad

Do you need to transfer money? Make a donation to charity? Pay a bill? Your Post Office offers a variety of secure methods for sending money nationally and internationally. Remember: If you must send cash by post you should always use a Registered Post envelope!

How does it work?

You can send money nationally by Postal Money Orders and Western Union, and internationally by Western Union, Eurogiro, and Sterling Draft. All these services can be carried out quickly and securely at Post Offices around the country, except Eurogiro which is available at selected Post Offices nationwide.

If you are you sending money nationally you can use our Postal Money Order service. If you need to make an immediate cash transfer, use Western Union. Just go to your local Post Office to carry out the transaction.

If you are you sending money internationally you can choose from Eurogiro, Sterling Draft or Western Union. Eurogiro is suitable if you are sending money to Europe. Eurogiro is currently available to a number of European countries including Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, and Switzerland. The benefits of this service mean that you can transfer money in the currency of the receiving country and it is paid to the recipient in cash or lodged to a bank account. You can send up to the equivalent of €1,904.61 for payment in cash. It is a very cost effective method of sending money internationally. This service is carried out at most Post Offices. Transfers are completed within four working days.

An Post also operates an inbound Eurogiro service for receipt of foreign payments.

You can also purchase Sterling Drafts which are suitable for making cost effective sterling payments to many countries worldwide. These drafts are available at selected Post Offices. You can send up to £2,000 sterling per transaction. The sterling draft is lodged to the recipient's bank account.

Western Union Money Transfer is suitable if you need to send money quickly. Recipients pick can up their money in local currency in minutes. Among the benefits of this service is its

Global coverage. You can send money to over 212,000 agents, located in over 190 countries worldwide. No bank account is required. The recipient picks up money at a Western Union Agency.

AIB Banking

AIB customers can avail of a wide range of AIB services including the lodgement and withdrawal of cash and payment of a AIB credit card.

NIB Banking

Cash lodgement facilities for National Irish Bank personal and business customers are available at 196 Post Offices. Cheque Acceptance and Forwarding services is also available in some of these Post Offices.

At an increasing number of Post Offices you can:
Lodge cash using your National Irish Bank Debit card or personalised lodgement book at selected Post Offices.
Lodge cash to your Credit Card account using your National Irish Bank Credit Card at selected Post Offices.
Avail of the Cheque Acceptance and Forwarding service using your lodgement book and pouches at selected Post Offices.
A cash withdrawals facility will be available in 2011.

The details of your bank account will remain a confidential matter between you and National Irish Bank.

Cash lodgement services will be extended to all remaining Post Offices in 2011 by which stage National Irish Bank customers will be able to make cash lodgements to their accounts in over 1100 Post Offices.
